On April 7, “China Railway No. 777”, independently developed by China Railway Equipment Group, started successfully, marking that the construction of the second section of Line 16 of the Greater Paris Metro has officially entered the shield construction stage.

Line 16 of the Paris Metro is an important link in the automated super metro network of the Paris suburban area and part of the Paris Metropolis development program. The shield tunnel of the project is 11.1 kilometers long, with a depth of 8-52 meters, a maximum water pressure of about 3-5 bar, and traversing strata such as granular gypsum layer, pulverized clay, gypsum marl layer, limestone layer and sand layer. In view of the geological conditions of the project, China Railway Equipment has customized two soil-pressure balanced shield machines with a diameter of 9.86 meters, namely “China Railway No. 777” and “China Railway No. 778”.

The two equipments were officially launched and transported to the project site on December 4, 2019. China Railway Equipment organized a professional technical service team to travel to Paris, France, strictly do epidemic prevention and control work, cooperate with the construction side with full strength and careful deployment, and provide strong support for the smooth departure of the equipments with system integrated management and excellent technical strength, which was unanimously recognized by the customer and the owner.
