    At 18:00 on November 20, the cutter of 14# shield machine of China Railway Shanhe rotated slowly and finally broke out of the hole with precision, marking the full passage of Wanjiali Rapid Transformation North Extension Line (including power tunnel).

    The project will further accelerate the solution of power problems in the eastern part of Changsha city, and serve the provincial and municipal key projects such as Metro Line 3, Line 5, and ChangZhuTan Intercity Railway.

    The Wanjiali Rapid Transformation North Extension (including the power tunnel) contains three intervals with a total length of 5km and is constructed by the shield method. It took a total of 424 days from September 22, 2020, when the 13# shield machine of China Railway Shanhe started, to August 30, 2021, when the 13# shield machine of China Railway Shanhe realized the first interval penetration, and then to November 20, 2021, when the whole line was successfully penetrated. During this period, the fastest digging speed achieved by the shield machine of China Railway Shanhe reached 15 rings in a single shift and 29 rings in a single day, which is the highest record of shield construction in Changsha City.

    It is understood that the interval tunnel laying along Wanjiali North Road, the interval shield construction is extremely difficult, high safety risk. In addition, the project team planned ahead, actively stockpiled pipe pieces, mixing slurry and other raw materials to ensure uninterrupted construction; at the same time, strictly checking the quality of pipe piece assembly, synchronized grouting to ensure the quality of the construction, all-weather tracking and monitoring of the shield machine status, analysis of monitoring data, to provide effective technical support for the shield tunnelling.
